Yep, my track selection put SOTEG to sleep.

Oh well. Can't win them all. :)

Thanks to Maven for catching this moment of infamy.

Pics from Cari Lekebusch, Joel Mull, Matt Xavier, Robtronik @ Avalon on 12-2-06

Great night. Can you believe that the main floor was packed until it shut down at 6:00 a.m.? That's awesome. The night started out as deep, detroit styled techno from me (where i used Live, 2 Electribes, and the Xone:3D and it sounded GREAT), then Matt Xavier layed down a harder tech house styled set with groovy basslines. Then Cari came out and banged in a chicago styled tech house/techno style. Joel finished the crowed off with banging techno tracks that still felt groovy, funky, and tight. Straight up, it was a great night. Thanks to those who came out!

p.s. Yes, that is a Swedish jersey I'm wearing. Yellow and Blue, Reason 3.0, REPRESENT. ;)

You can read the whole article here: Pitchfork Media - This Month in Techno. However, not much more in the article to gleam about the state of Techno in 2006 except an interesting thread about how localism plays a part in music's relevance to a listener/dancer/DJ. The auther realizes that he needs to be in the middle of it all in order to really understand the music. I can understand his pain though: He moved back from Barcelona and is now hunkered down in Portland, Oregon in his parents basement, cut off from his records, music equipment and regular gigs. Ouch. I'm sure he feels like he was banished into some terrible form of musical Siberia.

But hey, come to LA! Better weather. Compression. Droid. C'mon - it isn't Spain and we don't have topless beaches, but that hasn't stopped me from taking off my shirt.

Sexy.

BTW, I have to find the above tracks. I don't think I have the majority of those listed to be honest. LOL.
